We booked this trip long before the pandemic, flight with BA and the hotel direct. Months later we didn’t think the trip nor Moto event would happen but surprisingly it did! Due to flight cancellations we liaised with the hotel regularly, mainly Valentina who totally understood our situation. On arrival we were welcomed by Francesca, she was busy with other guests but still greeted us warmly and offered us a refreshment. We spoke with the Manager (also helpful ) who recommended a place for dinner close to the hotel, the ‘Holiday’ restaurant, good service and decent food. The following morning we met Valentina who we had communicated with by email prior to our arrival, she was as helpful in person as she was by email. All our questions were answered, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast staff were excellent, so enthusiastic, welcomed everyone and explained the process of the breakfast service. Only the staff would touch the food and coffee machine, you told them what you wanted, they gave it to you. Every morning we had a laugh with them, they are a really good team. The only disappointment during our stay was the hotel ended its season and could not accommodate our final night in Cattolica. We opted for a higher rated hotel which unfortunately was not a patch on Hotel Universal. I would definitely recommend Hotel Universal, it may be 3 star but the staff provide 5 star service
