It’s a long way to Cattolica... 5,000 km from Iceland to Cattolica
On May 20th 2008, in Cattolica's Town Hall, the Mayor and the local councillors warmly welcomed two couples coming from Iceland.
Not every tourist is ready to embark in a 5,000 km difficult trip just to spend his/her holidays in Cattolica. From Hafnarfiordu (their hometown) the two couples reached Reykjavik airport (40 minutes by car) and took a flight to Frankfurt (a 3-hour flight). Once landed they rented a car and drove up to Bavaria, where they stopped for one night. The day after they left for Cattolica. A long one day and a half trip just to spend less than a week in our city! Mr and Mrs Gudjonsson and Olafsson set a real record and spent their time in Cattolica at the Universal Hotel.
They said that with Cattolica it was love at first sight! They had seen a picture of the city on the Internet and they had decided to make it their holiday destination. For five years they have been spending their holidays in Cattolica, because they are in love with our sea, our beach, our people and our food. No doubt they are going to pass on their love for Cattolica to their fellow citizens.
